Sweeping sandy beaches or small coves, undulating dunes or high cliffs, rocks, caves, the smell and the many shades of blue and green of the sea, marine biodiversity, the sun and the countless beach activities combine to make the Algarve the best European beach destination.
There are two hundred kilometres of safe beaches waiting for you, with excellent services and access.
One of the areas of the Algarve with the highest number of beaches is Albufeira. Let us give you some suggestions from more than two dozen beaches, all with different forms and natural settings which are good for swimming.
Lose yourself on the sandy beach of Salgados and in the beauty of the surrounding natural landscape with its imposing dunes, the mirror-like water of the lagoon and its dense vegetation that is home to an array of birdlife. Take a stroll and observe the surrounding nature along its extensive series of walkways.
Heading eastwards, look for Evaristo beach, a little cove between low cliffs and rock formations. Put on your diving goggles and fins, and discover the marine life amongst the rocks.
Walk a little more than 10 km westwards and among the pine trees you will discover Santa Eulália Beach. With its broad expanse of sand and little rocky corners, this is a stunning but quiet beach with a selection of facilities.
Finally, Falésia beach is unmissable. Flanked by a line of high cliffs of contrasting colours, it offers an extensive sandy beach and is considered one of the region's most beautiful.
