The peaceful waters of the Atlantic Ocean provide a backdrop of blue that accompanies you while you explore part of this pleasant route.
Set off from Portimão, a city popular with aficionados of charcoal-grilled sardines, and head towards the coast. Your goals are the pretty villages of Ferragudo, Carvoeiro, Benagil and Armação de Pêra.
Now leave the western Algarve's busy tourist resorts and head inland to São Bartolomeu de Messines. The roads along the way are in good condition and traffic will be light. The EN 124 road brings you to the historic city of Silves, where you can pause to recharge your batteries before returning to Portimão by way of Senhora do Verde and Figueira.
