Stretching for 65 km, the Grande Rota do Guadiana (GR 15), takes you through Alcoutim, Castro Marim and Vila Real de Santo António, always following the River Guadiana as it flows through the uplands and barrocal on its way to the sea. The landscapes are varied and you will have the opportunity to discover the cultural and natural heritage of the eastern Algarve. The route is complemented by a series of small circular routes, known as the "Caminhos do Guadiana" and which cover a total distance of 135 kilometres.
Whether you are walking or cycling, explore the easternmost section of the Algarve, from the mountains to sea, alongside the riverine landscapes of southern Portugal's great river – the Guadiana.
