Viewpoints

The viewpoints in the Algarve are to be found all over the region. The views that await you are so breathtaking you will be pinching yourself to see if they are real or just a dream.

Along the Vicentine Coast, see how the clifftop Arrifana Viewpoint faces up to the Pedra da Agulha (“Needle Rock”), a giant rock rising up out of the Atlantic Ocean, and admire the sublime view all along the coastline from the Castelejo Viewpoint.

On the Algarve’s southern coast, visit wonderful places such as the Atalaia Viewpoint in Lagos and cast an admiring glance at the craggy ochre cliffs of Ponta da Piedade. The Fortress of Santa Catarina in Portimão affords a magnificent view over the city, Praia da Rocha beach and the River Arade estuary. Go up to the summit of the Cerro de São Miguel near Olhão. At 402 metres high, it offers an unparalleled panoramic view over the Ria Formosa. And close to the border with Spain, the magnificent viewpoint in Castro Marim Castle over the town, the River Guadiana, the saltpans and the surrounding hills will leave you speechless with wonder.

In the Barrocal, surrender to the delights of the panoramas afforded by the natural viewpoints that overlook gently rolling hills with the sea on the horizon. Awaiting you are the natural treasures of Rocha da Pena, the Malhão Viewpoint and Rocha dos Soídos.

The uplands are, in themselves, giant viewpoints. Fóia and the Picota Viewpoint in Monchique are especially worth a visit. And be sure to go to Barranco do Velho, where you will find one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Algarve, overlooking the Serra do Caldeirão uplands.

Go up to the viewpoints in the Algarve and make your holiday even more heavenly.
