From the Latin unicas, Única, located in the centre of Lagoa has an unrivalled 70-year-long history in the Portuguese wine-growing industry. The last survivor of the Algarve’s cooperative wineries, it was created when the wineries of Lagos and Lagoa merged in 2007. It takes pride in the fact that it receives grapes from all over the Algarve, thus ensuring the distinctiveness of its products. From wines with a marked acidity from the Lagos areas to the warm, velvety wines of Lagoa, and not forgetting the brandies and fortified wines, this “old lady” remains surprisingly jovial. With new partnerships having been established from 2010 onwards, we will find one of the largest private art galleries in the country at its facility in Lagoa. Here, you can admire the works of various artists while tasting the winery’s unique wines.
