Relaxation for people who can’t stay still

Stunning landscapes with high cliffs, brick-red rocks and blue seas are the setting for the Algarve’s expansive beaches.

With well-preserved features and restless seas framed by the ochre cliffs and promontories where bushes and wild flowers grow, the Vicentine Coast is a delight for enthusiasts of game fishing, surfing and body boarding.

These and other beaches with equally rocky terrain are scenes that the appreciative eye can admire up close on boat rides: sandy and rocky shores, clay cliffs, caverns and caves carved out by the sea and the explosive force of its pounding waves.

On the coastline facing south, where the sea is calmer and the sandy beaches more extensive, it is very easy to find beaches with facilities for diving, windsurfing, sailing, canoeing, waterskiing, parasailing, jet skiing, kitesurfing, and rides in speedboats, pedal boats (gaivotas) and inflatable ‘banana’ boats. These activities are offered at Meia Praia, Praia da Luz (Luz beach), Faro (Faro beach), and Ilha de Tavira (Tavira Island).

There are various activities on offer, either action-packed sea sports or peaceful sight-seeing boat rides, all waiting to be discovered along the Algarve coastline.
