Adventures among the beasts
Taking advantage of the holidays to see wild animals close up is an enjoyable and educational experience which all children will love. To cater for these little explorers, the Algarve has theme parks where you can have unforgettable adventures.
The Lagos Zoo Park is a real paradise for animal lovers. Here, you can divide the day into visits to the different species of monkeys, kangaroos, or iguanas. At the ducks’ pond, there are ducks, storks, geese, swans, water fowls and herons, as well as turtles, tortoises, carps, and frogs. In the Flight Tunnel, you can see the natural behaviour of birds, not forgetting the Parrot House with parrots exhibiting their vivid colours.
In the Krazy World in Silves, there are crocodiles, macaws, turtles, snakes, llamas, iguanas, goats and cockatoos which you can see in their natural environment. Here, one of the greatest pleasures is that you can feed the animals. In between visiting the reptile display and the mini golf, you can wander through a fair, swimming pools, short hill walks and a pony-riding track. You are spoilt for choice.
Throughout the Algarve, there are also farms for the purpose of education in which there are animals and vegetables, common in rural setting but almost nonexistent in urban areas.
