Boat trips

Get to know the coast, from end to end

Boat trips along the Algarve allow you a different view of its towns and the twisting outline of the coast, while surrounded on all sides by the deep blue ocean.

Vilamoura Marina is one of the starting-points for full-day mini-cruises, exploring the coastal areas, stopping on near-deserted beaches for a sardinhada (a grilled fish meal) or a dive in the ocean.

From the same location, boat tours leave at the end of the day. Entertainment is laid on and as night falls you can enjoy the view of the twinkling lights of Quarteira, Faro and Olhão.

In addition, Olhão offers trips in small boats conducted by fishermen that take you to the islands of Farol, Culatra or Armona.

In Tavira it’s worth exploring the route to Cacela Velha, passing through Quatro Águas and the saltpans where the flamingos live.

To the west, Lagos’ major attraction is its caves, carved out of the cliffs at Ponta da Piedade by the sea. Leaving from Portimão and going as far as Mareta, in Sagres, the tour travels past the white brilliance of towns, the golden sands of beaches, the green shades of pine and the many different shapes of the cliffs.

For people looking for adventure, boats leave from the marinas of Lagos, Portimão and Vilamoura to go on deep sea/game fishing trips, in search of swordfish, meagre and other large species.
