Soar above the cliff tops
To feel the caress of the wind on your face, see the horizon suddenly expand, feel the lift counteract the tug of gravity and, because of all this, experience extraordinary sensations: these are the reasons why paragliding and hang gliding are exhilarating pastimes for many.
With its breathtaking scenery, both inland and on the coast, and a vast expanse of Nature Reserves and Protected Areas, the Algarve is an incomparable region for Nature Sports fans. Because there is no shortage of cliffs on the coast, or hills inland, the region offers the ideal conditions for the sport.
For adventurers looking for their first flight, some companies in the region supply equipment and offer group sessions so your experience is both exciting and safe. If you want to give it a try, all you need to do is join up with a minimum of 6-8 people per session. The best locations for this type of flight are in the Alvor region, in São Brás de Alportel and the Falésia beach, in Albufeira.
For the more experienced pilot, there are the beaches at Cordoama and Salema on the Vicentine Coast (Vila do Bispo); or Porto de Mós in Lagos; well-known take-off points among fliers for the quality of flights launched from the cliff tops there.
