Some projects invent themselves, others appear imbued with a sense of urgency and vitality.

“Malgré Nous, Nous Étions Là” is a duet of the shared story of Paulo Ribeiro and Leonor Keil, choreographer and ballerina, but also husband and wife. The duet speak for themselves, without any other material being imposed. Based on texts by Gonçalo M. Tavares and with music by Bernardo Sassetti, Gilbert Becaud and Bárbara Travadinha, “Malgré Nous, Nous Étions Là” derives its energy from the friction between Leonor Keil’s body, with its desire to dance, and Paulo Ribeiro’s heavy body, which does not have the same desire as his heart to be on stage.
