The Algarve has been named amongst the 21 finalists for the election of Portugal’s Seven Natural Wonders, with three sites still in the competition, in two different categories. Voting has begun and will remain open until 7 September.
The headland in Carrapateira (competing in the “Beaches and Cliffs” category), the headland at Sagres and the Ria Formosa Estuary and Natural Park (in the “Marine Areas” category) are the nominations from the Algarve region, having been selected from an initial list of 323 locations around the country.
Voting for the choice of the Seven Natural Wonders of Portugal began on 7 March. Votes can be cast over the Internet, by text message or by telephone.
