Would you like to sponsor a cork-tree in the Algarve? The Associação Rota da Cortiça (Cork Route Association) and the Associação de Produtores Florestais da Serra do Caldeirão (Association of Forestry Producers of the Serra do Caldeirão) are promoting a reforestation project for the Algarve hills, in which everyone is invited to participate.

“After the countless fires that have devastated our Algarve inland region in recent years, it has become urgent to safeguard our cork-oak groves, which produce high-quality cork enjoying great international prestige” was the explanation provided by the associations.

If you want to help protect the region’s cork-trees, all you have to do is contribute a euro towards the planting of a new cork-tree.
